Giveaway! Carrie Harris's BAD TASTE IN BOYS

Update: The contest is now closed. Thanks to everyone who entered!

To thank Team Krista’s celebrity guest coaches, I’m giving away three copies of the paperback edition of Carrie Harris’s BAD TASTE IN BOYS, which came out just yesterday! (I’d give away copies of Alexandra Duncan’s and Liesl Shurtliff’s books, too, but they haven’t been released yet. Come back in another year or so!)

Here's what I thought of BAD TASTE IN BOYS when I first read it last fall:

"The thing I liked best about BAD TASTE IN BOYS was that it didn’t take itself too seriously. Sure, aspiring medical researcher Kate Grable is dealing with a zombie plague, but does she let that rob her of her sparkling wit and personality? Of course she doesn’t:)

"The other thing I really liked was how real Kate seemed. She cared about important things, like school and grades (and keeping all her classmates from turning into zombies), but she also cared about what the senior quarterback thought of her. She was neither too fluffy nor too serious. I’d read another book about her in a heartbeat (no pun intended)."

To enter*, all you have to do is tell me in the comments what you would do if a zombie plague took over your school/workplace/community. If you’d like an extra entry, you’re welcome to help me spread the word via your blog, Twitter, or Facebook (or Goodreads, I suppose, if they do that kind of thing over there). Just leave a link to your blog post, tweet, or status update in the comments, too.

The contest closes in two weeks, at 11:59 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, June 26. I’ll pick three random winners the next day, Wednesday, June 27, so make sure to come back then.

Good luck, and thanks again, Carrie, Alexandra, and Liesl, for all your help and hard work!

*It occurred to me that I should mention this giveaway is only open to U.S. residents (or rather, anyone with a U.S. mailing address). I'm afraid I don't have the funds or the know-how to ship internationally...

Ideally (meaning that I'm not part of the first wave of zombies and have time for this plan), there would be time to dig a huge moat around the house and fill it with something flammable. Also, there would be much weapon sharpening and hunkering down to wait for the end to come. Apparently I'm not a very proactive heroine in this story. :)

I see myself as being an evader, doing my best to get enough food and water (and maybe gasoline; I think that would be helpful) while staying out of the zombies' way as much as possible.

Thanks for the giveaway! I tweeted (but only have 7 followers so it hardly counts!)

If I was at a school, I would probably hide in a locker and hope that it had a backdoor to an alternate universe where there was no zombie plague!

The husband and I actually have a zombie plan. We would put as many supplies as we possibly could into our two cars, load up our four dogs, and go to the cabin my husband's family owns up in the mountains. It's in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by places we could hunt and get water. Plus, the husband says I'd have to learn how to fire a gun (which I've always refused to do). And throw knives, because they're quieter, and don't attract other zombies. So I guess our plan is very much just run away and hide!

Here in Alaska, we would probably hunt the zombies for sport. Or let the bears get them. Or wait for winter. Even the undead have trouble functioning at 40-below. ;)

If I was at school, I would lock myself in the library. Zombies don't care to read so I'd be perfectly safe! Plus, I'd never be bored!

Sounds like such a fun book! Love stories with that kind of sparkling humour! :)

(Don't enter me as I'm outside the US :))

Um. I think I'd run.

Is that too simplistic?

I'll tweet about this!

Thanks for reminding me that I need to update my zombie plan ASAP; it used to rely on people I knew on the east coast with relatively isolated farms, and now I'm clear across the country. We do have a lot of self-sufficient off-the-grid people out here though, so I'd try to team up with them somewhere mountainous and hope the heights and the cougars would keep the zombies at bay.

Now that I've thought way too much about my poor chances against the undead, thanks for the giveaway! :-P

Oh, I've so wanted to read BAD TASTE IN BOYS. That cover is to die for! Okay, Zombie plan - We're in a large city so we're going to have a tough time. We're stocked here at the house with food/water, but we can't be secure so we'd bug out to my bestfriends condo. The building is like Fort Knox - we would be safe there for awhile. We can use the car to go back and forth to the house to resupply our food. Can't stay here because the city will be swarming in short order, but we need to wait out the initial panic. After two weeks, we'd pack up the hybrid SUVs (did I mention Mel's husband is a car salesman? yeah, so don't think we'll be needing to pay for those with everything gone to hell) and head up to our cabin in Northeastern Oregon. We've got supplies up there and my dad and husband just redid our fence last summer so it's pretty secure. Not that I've ever given much thought to any kind of disaster happening...

I'd hide. Yeah, not heroic but realistic. My kids (17 and 11) informed me the other day that they've discussed this. No surprise. They were walking home from the store. If zombies attacked right then and there, they said they'd run elsewhere, not home, to not lead them to me. Isn't that the sweetest? Daughter would call (if she could) to let me know they were on their way but taking a detour and to get everything ready. I made them promise they'd stay together no matter what. ;)

ohh, i've got this all planned out with the fam. We're heading up north immediately. We have a cabin on a lake up there, deep in the woods. But, if even that doesn't work, there's and old mine we'll head to next.
BUT! If we can't get out of town, then we bunker down in my parents house and destroy the stairs, so the zombies can't get up.

Loving all these zombie plans! Keep 'em coming!

This is a fun contest!

If zombies attacked in our suburban community, I would grab my dad's rifle and hightail it out of the house, shooting zombies "The Walking Dead"-style until I could find a safe place to barricade myself from the horde. That's if I survive long enough and don't become a zombie myself :)

Hey we've all got to go, right?
Why not dope up on Nyquil and take a nap in the front yard. By the time you wake up you'll feel no pain, have no deadlines, and who knows, maybe brains aren't so bad.
I LOVED Carrie's book and I want to own it!!! (So I can lend it out to all my friends.)
I talked about BAD TASTE on my Goodreads blog (yes, we do do that over there.)

The hard part would be convincing my dad there really were zombies. My plan would be to have HIM come up with a plan and then help him implement it.

I loved BAD TASTE IN BOYS. :D
