Critique partner and agent sister Amy and I recently had a candid conversation about how we balance writing and motherhood, and superagent Kate was awesome enough to post our chat on her blog. Don't miss parts one and two!
I love this. Unfortunately, I have to figure out a way to balance being a full time mom, part time university professor, *and* writer. I do a lot of my teaching prep during naptimes and evenings, which means writing doesn't happen as often as I would like (but I kind of feel like my paying job has to take priority right now. :)) I am looking forward to this summer when I won't have any teaching responsibilities and can use all that time to WRITE.
When I was teaching, Rosalyn, I didn't even attempt to write, so I don't know how you do it. You can tell how much you love it because you find a way to squeeze it in. I hope you get a lot of writing done this summer!
I enjoyed the posts also. Pretty much sums up my life. I wrote as a kid, wrote once or twice in college (published an article with a professor and even wrote my first novel during one summer break). Then I too ended up teaching and no longer wrote. It wasn't until I had kids myself and became a stay-at-home-mom that I wrote. Messy house - yes, I have that, but I have that even when I don't write. I can clean up all day and within the first ten minutes my kids walk in the door, the house is a mess again.
Awesome! I just commented on Kate's post.

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Ryan!
