Just wanted to make you aware of a few ongoing or upcoming contests. First, KarenG of Coming Down the Mountain is hosting an awesome blog contest. Submit the first three chapters of your manuscript to an editor at WiDo Publishing, an independent publisher based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and you could win a full request/critique from the same. The best part is, every entrant will receive some kind of feedback on their chapters, so scurry on over there and find out more details. The contest closes on Saturday, August 21, so you have a little time. Good luck!
Also, I'm excited to announce that I'll be hosting my second blog contest next week. Bob is in desperate need of a title, and I'd love to get your ideas. To make it worth your while, I'm offering query and first-page critiques from four awesome agents--Amy Boggs of Donald Maass Literary Agency, Sarah LaPolla of Curtis Brown, Ltd., Andrea Somberg of Harvey Klinger, Inc., and Marissa Walsh of FinePrint Literary Management--to the people whose title ideas I like best. So make sure to drop by next Tuesday, August 17, for all the details.
Any other contests going on around the blogosphere that you think everyone should know about? Maybe you'll get an extra entry in those contests if you leave a notice in the comments...
Yay! I'm so excited for your contest, Krista. I'll start thinking of a great title for BOB. Ha ha. Actually, I'm realizing titles may not be as much my forte as I once thought. I don't have a title for mine, either. Everybody hated my original title and everything I've come up with since has been shot down. Sigh. But I'll do my best for Bob. He deserves a good title.

That is a major contest you have coming up. I'll do my best to help come up with a title for Bob. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the name Bob for a MS! It transcends so many different genres! lol Great contests and prizes. I will link back from my site where a copy of Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins is being given away. www.yupireadthat.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteAmy, I'm excited to see what you come up with. (Although I won't actually which one is yours until after the fact, since I plan to judge the contest blind.)
ReplyDeleteLisa, welcome!
Nathalie, sounds like you've got a great contest going on yourself. I actually already preordered MOCKINGJAY, since my husband was trying to get to that magical twenty-five-dollar level on a recent Amazon order:) (A few weeks ago, Amazon was selling it for less than ten!)
So, can we submit more than one title idea?
ReplyDeleteMyrna, yes! More details to come...
ReplyDeleteYAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait, either, Esther. And you're one-for-one in my contests so far... :)

ReplyDeleteYour contest sounds awesome. And I love "Bob" as the temporary title for your book. LOL, that's really funny! You asked about other contests. Michelle Davidson Argyle is doing a Blog Book Tour and offering prizes for her recently published book, CINDERS: CINDERS Blog Tour and Prizes.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Marilyn. And thanks for the contest alert!
