If You're in a Critiquing Mood...

...Check out the latest in-house critique session going on over at the Miss Snark's First Victim blog. The entries are all 250 words from a first-kiss scene, so I KNOW that sounds intriguing to you. Bob's #19--feel free to rip him apart. He needs it:)

And if you just have to read more (wink, wink), here are a few other Bob excerpts that have appeared on Authoress's blog: his first 25 words, and another 250-word blip (keyword: danger).

  1. I read it and left a critique. Great job!

I'm so mad I missed this. I had to run to a doctor's appointment when I saw Authoress' post. I thought, "Oh, if it's still going when I get back, I'll post." Well, by the time I got home and got my entry in, I got an email back saying they were full. Darn. I think my kissing scene may need work because I've never written one before. It's like a whole different kind of writing! I guess I need to start studying kissing scenes when they come up in the books I'm reading. :)

  2. Thank you so much, ladies. Looks like I'll be cutting that scalding-cheeks line... :)

  3. Oh, and Amy, sorry you missed the cutoff. It was pretty tight - I e-mailed my entry about thirty minutes after submissions opened and got my #19. The slots probably filled up within a few hours.

  4. Just so you guys know, we do critiques of queries over at my sight as well. Queries, first chapters, or a synopsis. We pick two submissions a month--sometimes more if we have time. Since people seemed interested in the query thing, I just thought I'd leave this info. :)

  6. The first kiss scene is lovely. I immediately fell in love with the endearing characters. Good luck with this story, and I really mean that!

  7. And the scalding cheeks seemed fine to me. That's what happens when you blush with intense emotion. My cheeks have scalded a couple of times in my life... I say leave 'em.

  8. Thanks so much, Holly, for your thoughts. Honestly, I've been feeling a little low, writing-wise, the past few days, so this was what I needed. And of course, it's always great to hear from you.
