Educators

I'd love to visit your school or library* for a school-wide assembly or a class-sized workshop. First, pick your presentation (all of which will include a question-and-answer session):
  • A Friendship for the Ages: One of the main themes in THE SOUND OF LIFE AND EVERYTHING and DON'T VOTE FOR ME is that you can find friends in unexpected places. I'll discuss the unlikely friendships that bloom in my books, then share examples from my own life and other middle grade titles that explore the same theme.
  • The Story Laboratory: Writing started as a hobby for me, then morphed into a paying gig as I practiced, practiced, practiced. I'll give your students a brief overview of my journey (which started when I was eight), and then we'll work together to start a new story by choosing a genre, a conflict, and a character. (This presentation works best as a workshop with no more than two classes.)
Then e-mail me at kvandolzer(at)gmail(dot)com to schedule your visit. For the time being, I'm offering these school visits for FREE, so don't dillydally!

I also offer free thirty-minute Skype sessions as part of Penguin Young Readers Group's Skype in the Classroom module. If you're interested in scheduling one of these sessions, please e-mail me at kvandolzer(at)gmail(dot)com or Melinda Quick at penguinauthorvisits(at)gmail(dot)com.

*At the moment, I'm only offering school and library visits in select counties in Nevada (Clark) and Utah (Davis, Salt Lake, Iron, Utah, Washington, and Weber). As my kids get older, I may consider offering school and library visits in other locations, so please check back periodically.
